List of Modalities

Modalities

Modalities are different techniques or kinds of massage. Joy has been trained in many different techniques including:

Relaxation:
Relaxation is exactly the way it sounds. It is a light-medium pressure touch designed to glide over the skin and relax you.
Swedish:
Swedish massage is usually a medium-deep touch that is designed to loosen tight muscles and to increase circulation by aiding blood flow to the heart.
Deep Tissue:
Deep tissue uses heavy friction and deep pressure to generate heat and loosen tight muscles. It may be combined with stretches and deep breathing to get maximum results.
Connective Tissue:
A deep tissue massage that uses very light pressure and heat to help release tension and detoxify the body. Clients need to be aware that drinking water after this type of massage is a must!
Pressure Points: Different days require different techniques. We'll work together to customize your massage to fit you.
Pressure points are usually integrated with a Relaxation or Swedish massage. This technique uses direct pressure to ease an area of "knotted" muscle. You may be asked to do deep breathing while receiving this technique.
Trigger Points:
Similar to Pressure Points, this technique is usually integrated with Swedish or Deep Tissue massage. The biggest characteristic that sets Trigger Points apart from Pressure Points is that when pressure is applied to the area, pain is referred to another part of the body.
Prenatal Massage:
Similar to the Relaxation massage in light-medium pressure, but designed to emphasize a pregnant woman's needs. Calming, relaxing, and a great gift for moms to be.
Healing Stones:
Healing Stones are hot or cool stones that are used on the body to melt away stress and tension. They can either be integrated with other full body treatments or they stand alone in their own 1½ hour long full body treatment.
Joy:
A Joy massage happens when Joy customizes your massage for your needs. Using all of the above skills.

There are many other different kinds of massage. Joy is always looking at learning something new. If you have a favorite please let her know and she might pick it up just for you.
